Dr. Afona Chernet has earned his BSc in applied Biology and Chemistry from University of Asmara, Eritrea, and an M Med Scis. in Neurophysiology (Systemic Neuroscience) from Hokkaido Graduate School of Medicine in Sapporo, Japan. After completing his PhD in Epidemiology (Migration Health Epidemiology) from the University of Basel, Switzerland, he continued to work as postdoctoral and then after, as scientific collaborator, at the SwissTPH institute in Basel. Currently he is pursuing his career as a migration health advisor and global health liaison officer at the institute. His research interest embraces epidemiology, migration and mental health, climate, global, and public health. He is also actively engaged in developing, organizing, and teaching migration health and related courses and lectures at different scale. Moreover, he participates in reviewing and editing scientific manuscripts.
