Dr. Laura Ospina-Pinillos

Child, Adolescent and Family Psychiatrist. Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Colombia

She is a psychiatrist with a special interest in child, adolescent and family psychiatry. In 2011 she becames a consultant psychiatrist in Colombia and from 2012-2013 she studied family therapy in Turin, Italy (Episteme, part of the Milanese Centre of Family Therapy). In 2016 she completed the advanced training in Child, Adolescent and Family Psychiatry in The New South Wales Institute of Psychiatry (Sidney, Australia). In 2020, she completed a PhD at the Brain and Mind Centre, The University of Sydney. During her time in this Centre she was actively involved in the design, research and development of several technological solutions to better assist young people to manage their mental health and wellbeing. Recently her areas of research are focused on the design, translation and cultural adaptation of mental health ICTs into Low-and-Middle Income Countries. Currently she is an Assistant Professor at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana where she leads various projects implementing technologies to reduce the mental health treatment gap in national and international settings. In the past two years she has been actively involved in the development collaborative research partnerships between Australian, European, Canadian and Colombian researchers.
