Marcel Salathé is a Swiss scientist, noted for pioneering efforts in digital epidemiology. Currently, he is a Professor of Digital Epidemiology at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) in Switzerland, and a former affiliate at Stanford University. His interdisciplinary work combines biology, digital technology, and AI to tackle pressing health issues. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Salathé was a member of the Swiss Science Task Force, heading the digital epidemiology group. He played an instrumental role in developing a global digital contact tracing protocol, leveraging technology to effectively mitigate the spread of the virus.
