York University trained health economist

Mr Thomas Maina is a York University trained health economist with over 20 years of experience in the fields of health care financing, policy, planning and budgeting. He is an expert in health systems strengthening, health financing, health resource tracking and economic evaluation of health programmes. He has extensive experience in public policy, planning and budgeting, health economic analysis and in presenting health policy results at the highest levels.  He is currently the Chief of Party of Uganda Health System Strengthening (UHSS) project. He served as technical advisor for the World Bank and Palladium, and previously as Principal Economist for the Ministry of Health, Kenya. Mr Thomas Maina will be speaking about the challenges of trackign health spending in Kenya, where health service delivery is devolved to the sub-national governments.
