Mauricio Avendano is Associate Professor at the Department of Epidemiology and Health Systems, Unisanté, Faculty of Biology and Medicine, at the University of Lausanne. Before joining Unisanté in Lausanne, he was Professor of Public Policy and Global Health at the Department of Global Health & Social Medicine at King’s College London, where he was also Head of Department. He is also Adjunct Associate Professor at the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Harvard School of Public health. Before joining King’s College, Dr. Avendano was Professorial Research Fellow and Deputy Director of LSE Health at the London School of Economics and Political Science (2011-2015). He has been David Bell Fellow at Harvard University (2008-2010), and Assistant Professor at the Erasmus University Medical Center in the Netherlands (2006-2010). Dr. Avendano is also network associate at the National Institute of Demography in France and the McArthur Foundation Research Network on an Ageing Society.
