Manager, Media Relations and Strategic Communications at Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, Geneva

Eunice is a multi-award-winning Communications and (Social) Media Specialist, currently a Manager, Media Relations and Strategic Communications at Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance in Geneva. Her previous roles include Content Generation Manager at Safaricom PLC (Kenya), Communication and advocacy consultant at the World Health Organisation in Geneva and in various writing and comms roles at the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) HQ in Nairobi and Geneva.

Eunice has extensive hands-on experience in organizational communications and media management across various sectors: health, science, environment, technology, financial services, and development. Her expertise includes multimedia editorial development, stakeholder management, internal communications, social media, and digital publishing.

Other roles include Communications Officer at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) where she worked with scientists to communicate scientific research results and evidence in a creative, simple-to-understand manner offering solutions of how this can be translated to informed action.

Eunice is a trained and experienced journalist who was a senior health reporter at the Daily Nation newspaper in Nairobi, with over seven-years of experience in development writing and journalism. She provided health and science multimedia content for other Nation Media Group publications such as Business Daily, The EastAfrican (a regional publication), The Citizen (Tanzania), and Africa Review.

Her writings have also appeared online in the Scientific African Magazine, French Newspaper, Le Monde, South African, Voices of Africa, and Women & Girls.

She is fascinated with newer forms of storytelling, content creation, generation, and sharing. She is also passionate about helping people get better jobs—in Media, Comms and PR especially—anywhere in the world.

She holds a Master’s in international Relations from her Alma Mater, the University of Nairobi where she also got a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communications. She has several postgraduate certificates from Oxford University, Graduate Institute Geneva and Rhodes University.
